Joe Maness is a high school educator with over 13 years of experience teaching mathematics. He earned his Naval Aircrew wings as an airborne Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Sensor Operator while serving in the US Navy. He flew back-seat in jets off of aircraft carriers, logging 102 Carrier Landings (traps) in over 550 hours of flight time. He won the Navy Expeditionary Medal for operations off the coast of Iran during the Iranian Hostage Crisis. After the being honorably discharged, Joe earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of New Mexico. He is currently teaches in Albuquerque, NM, where he is writing a textbook geared towards creating a mathematics lab involving S.T.E.M. education.
